Terms of Use
Last updated: September 22, 2026
Welcome to TipsyBuddy! By using the TipsyBuddy app or this website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Safety first: TipsyBuddy gives rough estimates only. It can never tell you that you are safe to drive. Never drink and drive. If someone needs urgent help, call your local emergency number immediately.
1. Who can use TipsyBuddy
TipsyBuddy is only for adults of legal drinking age where they live. By using it, you confirm you meet that requirement.
2. What TipsyBuddy does
- Helps you log drinks, see estimates of how alcohol may be affecting you, and review your history.
- Lets you voluntarily share your live location, venue, and status with friends via a private link.
- Provides quick links to rideshare services (Uber, Lyft), calling, and maps to help you get home.
- Offers an optional in-app Support & Feedback form that files your bug report as a GitHub issue (with optional screenshot and diagnostics) via our Cloudflare Worker proxy.
3. Estimates are not advice
BAC levels, sobriety times, hydration scores, and hangover forecasts are simplified estimates for harm reduction and entertainment. They are not medical, legal, or professional advice. Food, sleep, body composition, medications, and many other factors affect alcohol. Do not rely on TipsyBuddy to decide whether to drive, work, or do anything safety-sensitive.
4. Use location sharing responsibly
- Only share your location when you mean to, only with people you trust, and only for as long as needed.
- Only track someone else's session if they sent you the link themselves.
- Do not use live links to stalk, harass, or monitor anyone without their clear permission.
- Remember that anyone you send the link to can forward it to others while sharing is active.
5. Support & feedback reports
The in-app Report a Problem form is voluntary. When you tap Submit, the app sends your title, description, optional name/email, optional screenshot (max ~8 MB), optional diagnostics (app version, device model/brand, Android version, locale, time zone, storage/memory stats), and any follow-up replies through our Cloudflare Worker to the GitHub REST API, where it is stored as an issue/comment and attachment in the chartmann1590/TipsyBuddy repository (see our Privacy Policy for details).
- Public visibility: if the repository is public, your report, replies, and screenshots may be publicly visible. Do not submit passwords, keys, medical/financial data, credentials, or other sensitive or personal information.
- Your responsibilities: only submit content you have the right to share; don't submit unlawful, infringing, harassing, or abusive material, spam, or someone else's private information.
- License to use feedback: by submitting, you give TipsyBuddy and its contributors a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, discuss, and use your report to fix bugs and improve the app.
- No promises: submitting a report does not guarantee a response, a fix, or any timeline. Maintainers may edit, label, close, or remove reports at their discretion.
6. Acceptable use
Please don't misuse the service — including trying to break it, access other people's sessions by guessing links, send spam waves, flood the feedback reporter with automated or abusive submissions, submit sensitive data or someone else's private information in reports, or interfere with other users.
7. Third-party services
TipsyBuddy links to or embeds third-party services such as OpenStreetMap, Uber, Lyft, Firebase/Google hosting, Cloudflare Workers (feedback proxy), GitHub (issue tracker and attachment storage), and your phone dialer. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for them. Ride availability, pricing, and arrival times are set by those providers.
8. Cookies and consent
The TipsyBuddy website shows a cookie banner asking you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. We don't set first-party tracking cookies ourselves, but the tracker page relies on third-party services (hosting, maps, fonts) that may set their own cookies. By accepting, you agree to those providers' cookies as described in our Cookie Policy; if you reject, we record that preference and add no optional tracking of our own, though the third-party content needed for the page to work may still set cookies. You can change your choice anytime via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.
9. Availability and changes
We provide TipsyBuddy "as is" and do our best to keep it running, but we can't guarantee it will always be available, accurate, or error-free. We may update, pause, or discontinue features at any time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, TipsyBuddy and its contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app or website, including decisions you make about drinking, driving, or travel. You use the service at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and compliance with the law.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
